A houseboat, in other words a house on the water, is used for recreational use or permanent residence. Recently, it has become a new lifestyle even in Slovakia, which appeals to people precisely because of the possibilities of its unique use.
Houseboats permanently moored near the shore predominate in Slovakia. Mooring is usually done using ropes, anchors and gangways.
From a structural point of view, it consists of a floating part – a pontoon and a residential part – a superstructure.
The pontoon is primarily made of steel, but aluminum, composite materials, plastics or wood are also used in construction.
The superstructure is mainly wooden, steel, or a combination thereof, providing full comfort comparable to a holiday cottage or a family home. It is a cost-effective solution for living in nature with only small fees associated with renting space.
Houseboats with their own propulsion system are more often used abroad. Structurally, they are lighter, mostly made of composite materials or aluminum. The superstructure is smaller, but still offers sufficient comfort for a larger crew.
With a motor, it is easy to “raise anchor”, explore the hidden corners and beauties of the landscape, navigate rivers, lakes, and all this while enjoying the comfort of your own home. In addition to designing, our company also specializes in building houseboats and ships, while working closely with the customer to transform his ideas into reality.
